Reference photo — start and end of the movement.

How to perform

  1. 1.Place the bar across your traps as in a squat.
  2. 2.Feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent.
  3. 3.Hinge from the hips, leaning your torso forward.
  4. 4.Lower until your torso is almost parallel to the floor.
  5. 5.Extend your hips to stand back up.

Common mistakes

  • ●Rounding the lower back
  • ●Bending the knees like a squat
  • ●Using too much weight and losing control
  • ●Going past your safe range

Proper technique

Keep your back neutral and chest open through the whole hinge. The movement comes from the hips, not the spine. Start light to master the pattern.
