ShouldersCompoundPushSmith MachineBeginner
Guided shoulder press on the Smith machine. The bar fixed on rails adds stability and lets you load the delts more safely.
Visual guide

How to perform
- 1.Sit or stand under the bar with a pronated grip slightly wider than shoulder width.
- 2.Unrack the bar at upper-chest height.
- 3.Press the bar up until your elbows are almost fully extended.
- 4.Lower under control to chin height.
Common mistakes
- ●Snapping the elbows into lockout
- ●Lowering the bar too far and straining the shoulder
- ●Over-arching the lower back
- ●Pressing with the head jutted forward
Proper technique
Use the rails to focus on pressing straight up. Stop the press just short of full lockout. Keep your back well supported and your core engaged.
